Considering how long it can take to get a character from Level 1 to Level 80, finding ways to level faster is always a major topic of conversation for World of Warcraft Players. You can bet that people will be debating topics like grinding versus questing, which gear to choose at various levels, and so on.
But there's one question that may get less attention. That's the question of Talent Builds. Along with everything else, people need to give some thought to which talents their character will need to be able to complete all the actions needed to reach Level 80.
If you're working with a leveling guide, it only makes sense to use a Talent Build similar to the one the guide used for their characters. For example, suppose you're trying to level a Warlock. If the creators of your guide leveled their Warlock using a build that specializes in Demonology, you'll likely find it easiest to follow the guide if your Warlock specializes in Demonology too.
That said do you have to use the same kind of Talent Build the guide authors used for your character class? The answer is of course not. Using the same or similar build will likely make things a little easier, that's all. Certain quests might go differently if you use a different build, or certain steps might be harder than they are in the guide. Some things might be easier or work out better with a different build than the one the guide developers used.
The point is that duplicating the Talent Build someone else used to quickly level a character from your class can be useful, but isn't a requirement. Deviating from your guide's recommended build could slow you down (or in rare cases speed you up) but it won't stop you from following the guide and leveling far faster than you would on your own. You don't have to clone the guide author's Talent Build to level fast.
For example, there are many different variables to consider when you're building a mage in World of Warcraft. For example, if you build a mage specifically for PvP play, the talents you choose will be very different from the talents you choose for a mage made for running raids. There are benefits and issues with pretty much each part of every mage talent build you come across. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the talent builds suit your character.
